Active Health Center successfully alleviates patient’s chronic neck pain by targeting muscle weakness using the state-of-the-art Multi-Cervical Unit, or MCU, treatment.
Marc A. Weinberg, DC, and his partner, Colin O. Behrue, DC, claim that patients who have tried multiple avenues of pain relief without success may be good candidates for the leading-edge MCU treatment. One such patient is Avalon Mook who suffered for about ten years with chronic neck pain and stiffness.
Like many patients who suffer from neck pain and stiffness, Avalon is unable to pinpoint the root cause of her problem, although she is almost certain it stems from her years serving in the military. While in the Marine Corps, training at Officer Candidate School in Quantico for five weeks, she would wake up unable to rotate her neck after carrying logs from the forest the day before. Later, Avalon transitioned into the Army and recalls doing thousands of pushups and waking up every day with a stiff and painful neck.
The pain eventually resulted in severe headaches, causing Avalon to seek treatment while in the Army. After various failed treatments, she experienced her first chiropractor visit and found temporary relief.
Unfortunately, the traditional chiropractic care Avalon was receiving never completely relieved her pain and stiffness. Like many patients, she suffered with neck and back pain, she endured the pain for several years; until she sought treatment at the Active Health Center.
Having exhausted several treatment options without achieving long lasting relief, Avalon was excited but skeptical when she learned of the MCU treatment. “Even if you have had unsatisfactory results with other treatments, you can still get great results and reduced pain when the neck is strengthened in the right directions,” explains Dr. Weinberg.
In late 2008, Active Health Center acquired the MCU II, and was the first practice in the state of Florida to treat patients using the machine. There are slightly more than one hundred such machines in the world, and Dr. Weinberg is proud that his office can offer the MCU treatment to patients. Since providing such great results to the patients of Florida, two other offices have seen the benefits and have added the MCU technology to their offices.
MCU results are undeniable, making it a preferred treatment for professional sport athletes, major research facilities, and international military forces, including the US Air Force.
“The MCU is diagnostic as well as therapeutic,” reflects Dr. Weinberg. “Once we find the source of weakness in the neck, the machine goes to work. There’s no other machine out there that will actually locate the source of neck weakness as accurately and in as many directions as the MCU II does. Neck weakness is the piece of the neck pain puzzle that most other treatments mistakenly ignore, and that is why the pain frequently returns once these other treatments are stopped.”
At first glance, the MCU might intimidate some patients because it looks like a piece of weightlifting exercise equipment, and in fact, it works much like a weightlifting machine for the neck. However, you don’t have to be a weightlifter to successfully use it and achieve relief. Dr. Behrue adds, “It is easy to use, completely painless, and patients typically see and feel results within just three to five weeks.”
Once the individualized MCU treatment program of strengthening and stabilization was developed for Avalon, her progress was phenomenal and she was pleasantly surprised by the results she was feeling. Avalon is just one many MCU success stories. In fact, there is an overwhelming amount of medical research that validates the importance of diagnosing neck weakness and success of MCU treatments.
“It was challenging,” confides Avalon. “I had so much stiffness and pain on my left side that I struggled quite a bit to achieve the rotation. There were a couple of times I had to stop. But they assured me that this was fairly common, that my neck was just not used to doing the exercises yet.”
After a few treatments, Avalon noticed significant improvement in her neck strength and mobility, and even more exciting was the fact that the pain and headaches minimized to the point of nonexistence. “The stiffness is gone, so I can rotate my neck,” she emphasizes. “Before, I couldn’t even turn completely to the left or right. I used to wonder whether I should be allowed to have a driver’s license! I have not had any headaches. Those were so debilitating, and they’re gone.”
“I’m just grateful that I can function; I can do simple daily activities with my children that I truly could not do before.”
When speaking of Dr. Behrue and the treatment she received at Active Health Avalon exclaims, “I’m very grateful that I found Dr. Behrue and the MCU. It has been so helpful in getting my life back.”
Finally, there is hope for the people who have tried various treatments with no luck finding a solution to their chronic neck pain. The MCU is able to isolate where the weaknesses are and then strengthen those areas, oftentimes eliminating the pain for many patients.
