Chronic pain affects more than 100 million Americans each year, more than diabetes, heart disease and cancer combined. Unfortunately it is not uncommon for those suffering from a chronic pain to only find temporary relief from treatment options. Some patients try so many failed treatments that they finally resign to the fact that the pain is just a part of life and they often give up doing activities they enjoy because the pain is just too much to endure.
Neck pain accounts for nearly 15% of all chronic pain diagnosis. After 3-4 weeks of pain with an injury or ongoing neck pain beyond one month, the condition is considered chronic. Chronic neck pain may result from improper treatment in the early stages of a neck injury or a condition that persists for months or years. As a result of a degenerative condition, Faith Dunn experienced a tremendous amount of neck pain that just wouldn’t stay away no matter what she tried.
After attempting various unsuccessful treatments, Faith was simply amazed at the results she received from Active Health Center using the Multi-Cervical Unit. Marc A. After completing her treatment plan, Faith was amazed at how much the state-of-the-art Multi-Cervical Unit, or MCU, treatment finally eliminated the pain she had been living with.
Faith recalls that the pain and stiffness in her neck had reached a point to where is seemed as if it never went away. Prior to visiting Active Health Center, none of the treatments she had tried were able to eliminate the pain in her neck. Eventually, the pain became too much to endure, “It was like a stiff neck that lasted for about a week, but then one week turned into two, three, or more weeks and the pain was always there. Nothing I tried would make it go away.” The pain eventually began to interrupt her sleep and made her neck so weak she could barely lift or turn her head.
Having exhausted several treatment options without achieving long lasting relief, Faith was excited but skeptical when she learned of the MCU treatment.
“Even if you have had unsatisfactory results with other treatments, you can still get great results and reduced pain when the neck is strengthened in the right directions,” explains Dr. Weinberg.
In late 2008, Active Health Center acquired the MCU II, and was the first practice in the state of Florida to treat patients using the machine. There are slightly more than one hundred such machines in the world, and Dr. Weinberg is proud that his office can offer the MCU treatment to patients. There’s no other machine out there that will actually locate the source of neck weakness as accurately and in as many directions as the MCU II does. Neck weakness is the piece of the neck pain puzzle that most other treatments mistakenly ignore, and that is why the pain frequently returns once these other treatments are stopped.”
At first glance, the MCU might intimidate some patients because it looks like a piece of weightlifting exercise equipment, and in fact, it works much like a weightlifting machine for the neck. However, a patient doesn’t have to be a weightlifter to use it successfully and achieve relief. According to Faith, after first seeing the MCU, she had doubts that it would help because the machine “didn’t look like it would do much for my neck.” Dr. Behrue adds, “It is easy to use, completely painless, and patients typically see and feel results within just three to five weeks.”
Once the individualized MCU treatment program of strengthening and stabilization was developed for Faith, her progress was phenomenal and she was pleasantly surprised by the results she was experiencing. Following her six week treatment plan, Faith has gained strength and increased the range of motion in her neck. As a result of eliminating the pain, restful sleep has been restored and Faith couldn’t be happier. Faith is just one of many MCU success stories.
